100 Nativity Scenes in the Vatican - Seventh Edition

  1. The International Exhibition “100 Presepi in Vaticano” – named as such due to the presence of vintage and contemporary handcrafted nativity scenes from different parts of the world, made by artists, artisans, amateurs, children, school children, National and International entities, Embassies, etc. – is an annual nativity scene exhibition made with a variety of techniques, styles, and materials.
  2. “100 Presepi in Vaticano” is an initiative that aims to promote evangelization through the tradition of the Nativity Scene as a symbol of Christmas as a Christian celebration.
  3. The sole party responsible for the exhibition is the “Dicastery for Evangelization” (Section for the Fundamental Questions Regarding Evangelization), hereinafter “Dicastery”, which is located in Via della Conciliazione 5 – 00120 Vatican City (Tel. 0669869500 email: 100presepi@pcpne.va).
  4. Those wishing to participate in the exhibition can submit a request to the “Dicastery” from June 1 to September 30 by completing the form on the website www.100presepi.it by writing a brief description of the work, its technical characteristics and a photo of the nativity scene.
  5. The Nativity scenes will be chosen at the sole discretion of a Commission established at the " Dicastery," which reserves the right to assess the necessary eligibility requirements.
  6. Selected nativity scene exhibitors shall exhibit their nativity scene free of charge during the designated days and in the manner specified by the “Dicastery”. Any delay may result in the nativity scene not being accepted.
  7. The “Dicastery” shall provide coverage for the entire Exhibition with appropriate insurance policy. Although the " Dicastery" will take the utmost care of the works, it does not assume any responsibility for any damage or malfunctioning, and for other possible risks and damages to the works themselves.
  8. The placement of the nativity scenes in the exhibition space is assigned by order of the “Dicastery ".
  9. The “Dicastery” may, either directly or through third parties chosen by it, make audiovisual and photographic recordings of the exhibited works, for use in line with its own purposes1 (these may include but are not limited to: transmission, uploading, publication, dissemination, conservation) and free of charge; for this reason, the authors and nativity scene exhibitors may not raise exceptions or make claims of any kind.
  10. The nativity scene exhibitor may deliver and collect in person or through the use of a trusted courier his or her work, by prior arrangement with the exhibition administrator, designated by the “Dicastery”. The delivery and collection of the works will have to take place in the days indicated in the acceptance email. In case of failure to collect, the “Dicastery” will be lifted of any responsibility regarding the withdrawal and/or preservation of the work.
  11. The nativity artist may not affix any inscription, insignia, or other on the work on display. The “Dicastery” commits to dutifully indicate on the appropriate medium the name of the artist (e.g. person: first and last name, nationality, Institution, Embassy, etc.) and the materials used.
  12. The date and venue of the event may be subject to change; the event itself may be suspended and/or cancelled due to force majeure or any other cause and/or otherwise at the sole discretion of the “Dicastery”, which will promptly notify the participants.
  13. For the resolution of any judicial disputes, the Court of the Vatican City State shall have jurisdiction for all legal purposes.
